Meet Amy

Amy Sloat
Founder & Head Pastry Chef
Hi, I’m Amy, the founder and head pastry chef at Whisk & Spoon Baking Co!
I love sharing my passion for baking with others, so I’m so happy you found us! My love for all things culinary started at a young age when I would cook and bake with my grandparents. My “Gramma” and I would make cakes and cupcakes, while my “Pa” caused trouble always wanting to lick the spoon! Inevitably, Pa and I always had to make our own treat for him to snack on, so we would whip up a batch of his famous Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and somehow part of the dough always ended up “missing” before it made it to the cookie sheet.
That passion grew into a talent as I pursued culinary classes in middle and high school, and earned my Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from Blackhawk Technical College. I continued to learn and grow by working at several local bakeries. Needless to say, I know my way around a kitchen, including being knowledgeable about food safety. I maintain my sanitation certification from ServSafe, which is not a requirement for home-based bakeries. Nevertheless, I believe that it is important for my customers to feel confident and comfortable consuming my food, knowing that it is prepared to the same high standards as a commercial bakery.
In addition to my culinary training and experience, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from UW Whitewater and have worked in the business world for several years, for a company renowned for providing world-class customer service. I thoroughly enjoy interacting with different people, developing relationships, and being of service to others.
After maneuvering my way through my twenties, I realized on my 30th trip around the sun that it was finally time to work on my lifelong dream of owning a bakery. I was enjoying the patio at a small bakery, soup, and sandwich shop that sits on the shore of a beautiful lake. It was a brisk autumn day, and all the leaves around me were rich tones of burnt orange, mustard yellow, and crimson red. I was enjoying a bowl of my favorite soup- Baked French Onion- in a fresh, homemade bread bowl. In that peaceful moment of enjoying my gorgeous surroundings and indulging in fresh, warm, crusty bread, I confirmed that I wanted nothing more than to give others the opportunity to feel that same bliss I felt at that exact moment. That was the conception of Whisk & Spoon Baking Co., and ever since October 2023 I have been working to make this dream successful, with the love and support of my family, friends, and many complete strangers who chose to support me.
I am so very grateful to be living this life, and I appreciate you checking out my small business! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!
